Plumbing FAQs

Plumbing questions, answered plainly

Answers to common plumbing questions for DFW homeowners — pricing, scheduling, emergencies, water heaters, slab leaks, water filtration, and more.

Pricing & Trust

How does Tioga Plumbing's pricing work? +

We use upfront, flat-rate pricing. A licensed plumber diagnoses the issue and gives you the price in writing before any work begins — no hidden fees, no surprises, and no pressure. You approve the price first, then we get to work.

Are you licensed and insured? +

Yes. Tioga Plumbing is fully licensed, bonded, and insured in Texas (LIC# M-13661). Every plumber is background-checked and trained to our service standards. Tioga Plumbing and the Carter Family have served the DFW metroplex for over 70 years.

What is your $25,000 guarantee? +

We stand behind our work with the $25,000 guarantee from The Good Contractors List, which independently vets and backs every member contractor. If we don't do what we say we'll do, the program guarantees it — that's real, third-party protection for every DFW homeowner who trusts us with their home.

Do you offer free estimates and second opinions? +

Yes. We provide free, no-obligation estimates, and we'll give you a free second opinion on any plumbing quote — regardless of the quote.

Do you charge just to come out? +

No — we don't charge service visits just to show up, ever. If there is going to be a diagnostic fee or any other charge, your technician will tell you before any charges are assessed.

Do you price match? +

We absolutely will price match when it's possible with an apples-to-apples comparison — same scope, same materials, same warranty. At minimum, we'll always attempt to get you the best price available. And yes, that applies to commercial work too.

Scheduling & Emergencies

Do you offer 24/7 emergency plumbing service? +

Absolutely. Plumbing emergencies don't wait for business hours, and neither do we. Call 817-484-5356 any time, day or night — 24/7 answering is available and we'll dispatch a plumber fast.

Can you come out the same day? +

Yes — same-day appointments are available for most plumbing issues across DFW. Call early in the day for the best chance at a same-day slot.

Is emergency pricing different at night or on weekends? +

No — our pricing is the same 24/7. What a job costs is driven by the problem, the parts, and the access, not the clock. You'll get the same written, flat-rate quote at 2 a.m. as you would at 2 p.m.

What should I do in a plumbing emergency? +

First, shut off the water — either at the fixture or your home's main shutoff valve. Then call us right away. If you smell gas, leave the home, call your gas utility and 911 first, then reach out to us once you're safe.

What areas do you serve? +

We serve Hurst, Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas, Irving, Bedford, Euless, Keller, Southlake, Grapevine, North Richland Hills, and dozens of surrounding DFW communities. See our Service Areas page or call to confirm we cover your town.

Common Plumbing Questions

Tankless or traditional water heater — which is right for me? +

It depends on your household's hot-water demand, available space, and budget. Tankless units deliver endless hot water and save space, while traditional tank heaters cost less up front. We'll walk you through the trade-offs and right-size the system for your home.

How do I know if I have a slab leak? +

Warning signs include a spike in your water bill, warm spots on the floor, the sound of running water when nothing's on, low water pressure, or unexplained moisture. Our leak-detection tools pinpoint the source without tearing up your home.

My drains keep clogging — what can you do? +

Recurring clogs usually point to buildup deeper in the line or a developing issue with your main sewer line. We use camera inspections and professional drain-clearing equipment to find and fix the real cause — not just clear the surface clog.

Do I need a water filtration system in DFW? +

North Texas water is hard and often heavily treated. A whole-home filtration or softening system protects your pipes, water heater, and fixtures from scale, improves taste, and can extend the life of your plumbing. We'll test your water and recommend the right solution.
