Permits & Code

Permits, code & inspections — handled for you

When TX plumbing permits are required, what code governs your project, and how Tioga Plumbing handles the paperwork & inspection for DFW homeowners.

The Short Answer

If a permit is required, we pull it.

Texas plumbing work follows the Uniform Plumbing Code as adopted by individual DFW municipalities, plus oversight from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Permits aren’t about red tape — they exist so somebody verifies the work and protects your home (and your resale).

As a licensed Texas Master Plumber (License M-13661), Tioga is authorized to pull permits on your behalf in every DFW jurisdiction we serve. You don’t make a single phone call. See the full list of Tioga licenses & certifications, or book a permitted job the easy way.

When Permits Apply

The most common DFW situations

Permit thresholds vary by city — we’ll confirm your specific case at the estimate.

  • New water heater install or replacement

Almost always required — especially when relocating, going gas-to-electric, or installing tankless.

  • Repipes (whole-home or partial)

Required. Inspection sequencing matters — rough-in, then top-out, then trim.

  • Slab leak repair via reroute

Required when the new line is exposed or runs above ceiling.

  • Sewer line replacement / spot repair

Required in most DFW jurisdictions; may include city-side tap inspection.

  • Gas line repair or new appliance line

Required — gas work always carries a pressure test inspection.

  • Simple fixture swap (faucet, toilet, disposal)

Generally no permit needed if no rerouting is involved.

How We Handle It

Three steps, zero calls from you

  1. Step 1

    We pull the permit

Before the job starts, Tioga files for the permit in your city — Hurst, Fort Worth, Bedford, Grapevine, wherever you are. You don’t make a single call.

  2. Step 2

    We schedule the inspection

When the rough-in is ready, we coordinate with the city inspector and meet them on-site so they can sign off the work.

  3. Step 3

    You get the paperwork

Closed-out permit and the inspector’s signed card go with your final invoice. Good for resale; good for insurance; good for your peace of mind.
